On June 17, 1885, the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor. The gift from France arrived in 350 individual pieces after it traveled across the Atlantic Ocean packed in over 200 cases. Once the copper and iron statue was assembled, President Grover Cleveland held a dedication ceremony.
