On June 4, 1942, the Battle of Midway began. It was one of the most decisive victories the U.S. had against Japan during WWII. The battle lasted 4 days, ending on June 7, 1942, with the U.S. Pacific Fleet outnumbering and destroying four Japanese aircraft carriers. The U.S. only lost the Yorktown in the battle.
