On May 21, 1927, Charles Lindbergh, American pilot, completed the first solo, nonstop transatlantic flight. Lindbergh flew his “Spirit of St. Louis,” a single-engine monoplane from Long Island, NY to Paris, France. The flight covered nearly 3,6000 miles and took about 33.5 hours.
