On February 11, 1753, the first hospital opened for patients in America. Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond founded Pennsylvania Hospital, (considered America’s first hospital), in 1751 “to care for the sick-poor and insane who were wondering the streets of Philadelphia.”
