On February 5, 1953, animated movie Peter Pan opened up at the Roxy Theater in NYC. The budget for the film was $4 million and ended up being the highest grossing film of the year earning $7 million. Peter Pan was re-released in theaters several times in the 72 years of its existence and has grossed over $87 million.
