New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells took a 2-0 fastball from Milwaukee Brewers starter Freddy Peralta over the right-field wall in the bottom of the first inning making history as the first catcher in Major League Baseball history to hit a leadoff home run on opening day.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, it was the first time the Yankees had a catcher hit leadoff in the franchise's 19,014 regular season and 437 postseason games.
