US Attorney General Pam Bondi was happy to announce the largest fentanyl bust in U.S. history. Bondi said, “This historic drug seizure, led by the DEA, is a significant blow against the Sinaloa Cartel that removes poison from our streets and protects American citizens from the scourge of fentanyl…This Department of Justice will continue working with our law enforcement partners to dismantle every cartel network operating illegally in the United States.”

Authorities seized over 400 kilograms of fentanyl/3 million pills, 80 kilos of methamphetamine, 7.5 kilos of cocaine, 4.5 kilos of heroin, 49 firearms, nearly $5 million cash, $50,000 in jewelry and a few vehicles within Las Vegas, NV; Phoenix, AZ; Salem, OR; Layton, UT; and Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM.

Heriberto Salazar Amaya, 36, living in Salem, OR, a major leader of the Sinaloa Cartel and 15 others were arrested in the bust.

Bondi said the drugs are getting mixed; the pre cursers are made in China, and getting sent to Mexico. Now, Bondi also believes the drugs are also coming through India, the northern border and even through the mail.

Six of the suspects, including Salazar Amaya, arrested were illegally in the country.
