Half Way There in New Orleans

After six days, authorities have now caught half, five of the ten inmates that escaped the Orleans Justice Center just after midnight on Friday and a maintenance employee at the facility has been arrested for allegedly assisting the with the escape.


Nineteen-year-old Corey Boyd was caught after police surrounded an apartment building in the Treme neighborhood. Boyd was originally arrested with second-degree murder charges, aggravated battery and threatening a public official.


Sterling Williams, the maintenance employee at the prison turned off the water in the cell where the prisoners escaped through a hole in the wall behind a toilet. Williams is being charged with 10 counts related to facilitating the escape and one count of malfeasance in office. His bond is set at $1.1 million. 


Five fugitives are still on the loose and authorities are warning family and friends not to assist them, as they will be charged criminally.


There is a $20,000 reward for assisting in the arrests of the fugitives.
