'Good Times' Actor Amos Dies at 84

It was announced on Tuesday that actor John Amos has passed away at the age of 84. 

Amos, famous for his roles in "Roots" and "Good Times" died on August 21st, but the information about his passing was just released to the press on Tuesday. 

K.C.  Amos, John's son said...

"It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned. He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold... and he was loved the world over. Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor." 

On TV he had roles in Roots, Good Times, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Tim Conway Comedy Hour, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The West Wing and All About the Andersons.

On the big screen he appeared in films such as The Beastmaster,  Coming to America, Coming to America 2,and Die Hard 2.
