Gene Hackman & Wife’s Final Autopsy Report

Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead in their New Mexico home on February 26, 2025, and according to the final autopsy report, he died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and his wife died from Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.
The Office of the Medical Investigator in New Mexico said Hackman has a “history of congestive heart failure” and “severe chronic hypertensive changes, kidneys.” The autopsy report also said, “Neurodegenerative features consistent with Alzheimer’s Disease,” were also noted.
Although authorities initially described the deaths as “suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation,” it has since been confirmed there was no external trauma on the couple.
