A manhunt is underway for former Arkansas police chief, Grant Hardin, 56, who has escaped prison around 2:55 p.m. on Sunday.
Hardin was serving a 30-year sentence for first-degree murder and 50 years for rape in the North Central Unit of the Calico Rock, AK state prison since 2017. Hardin is said to have left the prison by the act of deception and is believed to be seen on video surveillance exiting the prison.
“Hardin was wearing a makeshift outfit designed to mimic law enforcement when he escaped the facility. He was not wearing a Department of Corrections uniform, and all DOC-issued equipment has been accounted for,” the Department of Corrections said.
Hardin is 6 feet tall and weighs 259 pounds.
Harden is “considered to be extremely dangerous and should not be approached.”
The local Sheriff’s Office warns, “Lock your doors and again call 911 immediately if you see Grant Hardin.”
Authorities are investigating the escape and the events leading up to the escape.
