Carr Announces Retirement

New. Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has announced his retirement due to a right shoulder injury.  

Scans on Carr's right shoulder showed he sustained a labral tear and had significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff. 

Carr felt pain in his throwing while ramping up for the 2025 season in late March. Surgery could have wiped out the entire 2025 season, but offered no guarantees he'd return to his regular level of strength and performance. 

The Saints now have $30 million in cash and cap relief. Carr will retain his $10 million roster bonus.
