With the federal fiscal year beginning on October 1st, U.S. Border officials are concerned with the number of migrants illegally crossing so far and if they are tied to terrorism. For the past 17 days, over 16,000 of known “Got Aways” illegally have entered the U.S. and weren’t brought into custody. Illegals have been coming from countries with ties to terrorism such as Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and Lebanon.
There have been more than 30 Iranians, almost 60 Syrians, 35 Pakistanis, 285 Afghans and nearly 2,000 Chinese that have arrived. In the past week, there have been 6 Iranians, 3 Lebanese, 1 Chinese, 1 Egyptian, and 1 Saudi Arabian in Eagle Pass, Texas alone. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has confirmed 4 adult male Iranians apprehended that hit the terrorist screening database watch list, may have potential ties to terrorism, and could pose a threat to our national security. Also being held in custody, pending additional screenings, are 2 Lebanese men in their 20s and 1 Egyptian man in his 40s.
Another illegal apprehended is an MS-13 gang member, known by the tattoo on his back. Eagle Pass, Texas solely still has over 60 miles of unpatrolled border and hundreds of miles across the entire southwest border. Agents fear there are many more that may have gotten by.
