At Last, Funding is Cut Off at Wuhan

The Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China will lose funding from the Biden administration. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) admitted in a memo that the Wuhan lab is “not compliant with federal regulations and is not presently responsible when it comes to biosafety.”

An HHS spokesman stated, “The move was undertaken due to WIV’s failure to provide documentation on WIV’s research requested by the U.S. National Institutes of Health related to concerns that WIV violated NIH’s biosafety protocols.” Also in the memo about the stopping of funds noted, “not only previously violated, but is currently violating, and will continue to violate, protocols of the NIH on biosafety…the immediate suspension of WIV is necessary to mitigate any potential public health risk.” Wuhan researchers continue to deny that the lab had anything to do with the outbreak of the virus causing Covid-19 even though several of their scientists were taken to hospitals in the fall of 2019 with similar symptoms of the virus.
